Magum PI : Thanks for the post, I copied and pasted it to an email I sent to a reactivated JW business owner in his early sixties. He found it interesting but has since shut down as he mentioned our conversation to an elder. Looks like he's thoroughly enjoying his newfound social circle - country club and doesn't want to jeopardise it by being honest and truthful in his researching of it. Of course he once mentioned to me that many JW's now seem well off compared to when he was growing up in the 'truth' as a kid. This guy even has 1914 in his personal business email. What a nut all social en everything, a real cut above us all.

the GB's coup of the FDS
by Magnum ini believe the gb's takeover of the fds was an illegal coup - not illegal relative to the laws of land, but illegal according to jw "laws" or doctrine.. according to jw doctrine, the fds is god's channel of communication between heaven and earth.
before the coup, the fds was defined to be all the anointed on earth, and the gb was part of that group and merely the spokesman for the group - individual gb members having no more authority than non-gb members of the fds.. however, a few years ago, the gb, independently of the other members of the fds, decided that it alone was the fds.
that, to me, was an illegal overthrow of the body (fds); it was a coup.. suppose the u.s. president decided that he has all power, and that he removed the powers of the u.s. congress.

For sure LHG, yup he got out during the late seventies disco craze, did his thing got married kids and took over his dad,s hop I'm guessing as they've been established lon ago before he was of working age. Yes me mentioned to me a few years ago on how returning to the org he noticed how well off many 'appeared' to be. I'm guessing he noticed all the cleaning business owners with their large less noticeable pool of poor JW's... es him and his wife are having a ball in their new found social club. The guy's in full JW.org adoration mode and he even incorporates 1914 in his email address. Yes I bet you the cong. is happy to have some extra cash coming in from him.

Is exactly what I did, mentioned before often here on the forum so am sorry to bore you all : prayed to God to let me see the real honest truth, the whole reality of the situation, as in "show me" from the Christine movie.. Printed up New Boy's Bethel stories and sat outside in the hot spring sun on a pail in the alley way beside my shop and read for hours. Was the beginning of the end for me, started planning the rest of my life right then and there. No more living in short 6 month to a year time frames for me. Read all the required books and then some. Years later I still feel the need to come here to read and share. It was that big.

Great reply LHG you nailed it ! Funny story one of our shop neighbours has a customer that is a born in, left when he was a young adult and just got back in a couple years ago as it's now convenient for him to do so. He's in his early sixties and I think he is second generation owner operator of his electric motor rewinding shop. Bounced a few things off him which he promptly discussed with an elder how told him to stop talking to me if I'm DF'ed. So what we have here is a successful 60 year old business owner that needs to smell and kiss some elder's butt and act all child like..

For me year 2000, I thought somehow this was significant and came in and started studying in the spring of that year thinking I had just won the lottery ! As I 'progressed' ( cough cough ) in my Bible Study™ I started to see the shoehorning of WT doctrine into the Bible. Anyhow for whatever reason ( lots of single chicks ) I kept at it and was baptised in the spring of 2002 in what seemed like a huge let down. Buy hey I was ready to take on the world and participate in the big cleanup at hand, possibly married and with regular sex available. Left my cong. in the fall of 2003 totally burned out and fed up after being subject to a pushy elder's agenda in his search for a new employee -slave. I then left for a new French hall minutes from my place where my eyes were really opened and tried to make the best of it. Hung on too long and by fall 2008 I was in full blown depression that required meds to climb back out of. Thanks a lot WT, dork I was. No more, see my middle finger anyone ?

Witness Royalty and the last day at the "Towers"
by Lynnie inmy uber elder cousin and his wife got the "privilege" of having one last "toast" of wine at the rooftop garden at the towers in nyc since the jw's are vacating to warwick.
his oldest daughter and son in law are quite high up in the inner circle so they get invited to all the "inner circle" activities.
even though they aren't supposed to toast to anything it was pretty darn close.

A born-in JW twit I knew was the son of a former CO in Canada. The amount of respect and recognition he would receive on account of this from the 'brothers' ™ was beyond explaining. People would grovel and treat him like royalty, disregarding actions that myself as a worldly person wouldn't even want to do or attempt. Can you say double life ? I could write a short story filled with juicy details of my encounter with this guy over the 4-6 year period I knew him.

by Isambard Crater inour co-ordinator put his hand up and commented saying that people who go on about how depressed or anxious they are just need to stop giving in to impulses and show more self control without letting their emotions rule their lives.. if anyone from the media, a government agency or some other public body heard a comment like that, they'd have a hard time exercising self control over the rubbish this elder spouted, which my friends and family with genuine depression found insulting..

Thanks LHG, you are so right ! One of me former JW acquaintances ( I would say friend buy since I'm no longer JW I'll let you figure it out ) lost his first born son on account of this very thing. The little kid was an off the wall hyperactive, as mental health issues are rampant in that family. Anyhow at 19 years old the kid took a long walk on an unlit portion of the Laurentian highway north of St-Jérome Qc. and got hit twice for good measure. D.O.A. All this on account of the constant guilt tripping of not being good enough and not getting needed attention at home. Typical divorced and re-constituited JW happiest people on earth parenting situation. Most irresponsible adults I've ever had the displeasure of meeting.
I used to get grief for working at my business, once even got called out in front of the Saturday morning book study group for passing up in field serve us to go back in Saturday afternoon and get my papers in order. Told our incompetent conductor to his face in front of everyone that I like to pay my bills ! Twas the beginning on the end for this convert here..
PS : I have a saved off of FB picture of the above boy and younger sister when they were 6 and 8. Breaks my heart to look at it still. I would post it but don't need the backlash as I could be identified, and we all know how JW's love litigation $$

Thank you for your post Steve2, went through same here. Now we can laugh about it, but it certainly was serious business back then. Anyone that is the least bit honest, conscientious, perfectionist, neurotic and kind hearted will get raped alive around these selfish people. They'll use and abuse you till you're only a shell of your former self in the name of putting on the 'new personality' and this without any qualms nor care. All for the cult as you as a person are so not important.
